Located in a historic building right at the heart of Clerkenwell’s design district, Hatton Garden is a top-floor, entirely open plan apartment. With no square corners, we had the opportunity to respond creatively to the spatial and detail design. Passionate cooks and avid entertainers, the clients wanted a kitchen intimate and cosy enough for everyday meals, whilst able to hold the elevated hosting of supper clubs and formal dinners.

The mix of materials is bold but balanced; reclaimed travertine Altrock surfaces, handmade Moroccan tiles, brass trim, natural travertine cladding and Fenix doors, anchored by a Bora cooktop. A large curved island centres the space, functioning as a chef’s table for twelve, allowing for close involvement of both chef and guest.

The clients wanted a kitchen intimate and cosy enough for everyday meals, whilst able to hold

the elevated hosting of supper clubs and formal dinners.

We fitted the kitchen with subtle storage solutions; dovetailed oak vegetable drawers, hidden plinths, adapted corner pullouts, dowelled crockery organisers and bespoke recycling units. A niche for the bar and floating steel shelves reflect the sloped geometry of the walls. Every detail is adaptable to the rhythm of daily life, or the occasional dinner which continues late into the night.
