Located between Dalston and Newington Green, LEROY is the new London office for graphic design studio Porto Rocha, their first permanent European base. Set within a commercial office complex, the project marks a significant milestone for the studio.
The brief called for an environment that felt aspirational but not precious. A space that invites focus and time, without slipping into either corporate sterility or domestic comfort. The interior is anchored by a consistent use of cherry veneer and solid timber, creating a sense of uniformity across the space. Clear lines, careful proportions, and a strong emphasis on grain structure reference mid-century modernism with nods to Donald Judd, while pushing into something more contemporary. Glazing was used deliberately, allowing visual connection between spaces while maintaining acoustic separation, particularly within the meeting room.
Sustainability was approached in the way we prioritise across all our projects: by designing things to last. Durable materials, careful detailing, and construction methods focused on longevity rather than trend form the foundation of the fit-out.
One of the key challenges was working within strict landlord constraints: all elements needed to be fully demountable and removable without trace, while still providing robust acoustic performance. This required a high level of care and coordination of detailing, construction logic, and material selection. The project was delivered over a three-month programme.
Design played a central role throughout. As leaders in contemporary graphic design, Porto Rocha’s new office needed to reflect their visual language without becoming a literal translation of it. The space is intentionally neither warm and cosy nor overly slick, allowing the people working within it to take centre stage.
The final result is a workspace that supports focus, collaboration, and enjoyment. The launch marked a successful milestone for Porto Rocha, and the studio now stands as a clear extension of their brand and values.
The project was photographed by lifestyle photographer Christian Cassiel, offering a perspective rooted in use, atmosphere, and daily life; a fitting reflection of how the space is intended to be experienced.
